NGen grant award
We’re excited to announce that Triweco is now part of a groundbreaking consortium with CABN, which has just secured a multimillion-dollar funding award to automate production in their factory in Brockville, Ontario. This award comes from Next Generation Manufacturing Canada (NGen), which has selected 12 forward-thinking projects aimed at revolutionizing homebuilding by improving design, streamlining industrial processes, and enhancing supply chains. Together, we’re helping to build homes faster, more affordably, and more sustainably - and we’re proud to be part of it!
Canadian homebuilders need to triple the rate of housing construction to meet demand projected for 2030. They need to reduce the unit cost of building homes by 54% to keep housing prices in line with price inflation. They need to lower carbon emissions per home by more than 20% to contribute to overall emission reductions in Canada’s housing sector. And they need to increase labour productivity by 60% to compensate for a shrinking workforce.
These are big challenges and the only way to tackle it is to introduce housing manufacturing in an industrial manner and scale. This is where Triweco shines.
Triweco’s Role In The Project
Triweco will supply industrial house manufacturing expertise, advanced machinery, robotics (supplied by ABB) and software. Our advanced manufacturing line is designed to boost CABN’s home production capacity sixfold, enabling the factory to produce up to 300 homes annually.
CABN - Beautifully Designed, Scalable, Net-Zero, Affordable Housing
Founded by social entrepreneur Jackson Wyatt, CABN is revolutionizing net-zero rapid housing across Canada by combining intelligent building design, advanced fabrication, and innovative technology to create sustainable and attainable homes for individuals and communities.
The homes are built with CLT Panels that provide insolation properties, reinforced with crosslam timber panel, wood fibre insulation, impregnated wood fibre insulation board and timber cladding. All sourced from sustainably managed forests. Passive Haus building design strategies maximize the airtightness of the buildings. Renewable energy is created and stored with Solar Panels and a leading battery storage system. The architecture is simple, natural and beautiful with exposed interior CLT wood panels. In other words -homes to live and thrive in.
We thank all team members for their hard work so far and look forward to an intense year of making this factory come to life!
